Re. your tweet, if you don't mind sharing, what reading ed. program are you applying for. Or if you don't want to say specifically, can you name some that you think are worth and applying to and why. Thanks.
As someone who will have her Master's in May, I am eying an Education Specialist degree as opposed to a second Master's... or a Ph.D. An Ed.S. is geared toward people who are looking for a post-Master's degree without the commitment to writing a dissertation. It would also facilitate a transition to higher ed. if I chose to teach at a college level (in the very distant future).
If you are looking to pursue a reading degree, strongly consider which state(s) you want to teach in in the future. Many programs are aligned to their state's requirements for a reading specialist. Because I don't anticipate teaching in Maryland, I avoided applying to programs in that state.
I'll name the program if I'm accepted, although that news might not come until the summer. Wish me luck! :)
